  • Position Overview:

    We are seeking highly motivated and experienced bilingual immigration paralegals who demonstrate alignment with our ethos to join our growing Humanitarian Immigration and Removal Defense Section. The individual will undertake a comprehensive range of tasks in a wide array of matters, including, but not limited to, asylum, removal defense, special immigrant juvenile, U and T visas, TPS, and VAWA, and must bring a wealth of relevant experience coupled with a high standard of conduct.
    We offer competitive compensation packages commensurate with experience, flexible work arrangements, and professional development opportunities for career growth. The positions are full-time, part-time, and project-based and will be hybrid, mainly remote.

    Qualifications:

    •    Bachelor's degree or certificate in Paralegal Studies or related field preferred;
    •    Minimum of two years of experience as an immigration paralegal or similar role working in humanitarian and removal defense cases preferred; one year of experience in one of these categories as an immigration paralegal is a MUST;
    •    Proficient in USCIS and EOIR case management skills with strong knowledge of U.S. immigration law, regulations, and procedures;
    •    Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; proficiency in legal case management software such as Docketwise and Clio is a plus;
    •    Fluency in Portuguese, Spanish, and/or Haitian Creole;
    •    Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, analytical, verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
    •    Excellent legal writing, and research skills using legal research tools such as Westlaw or LexisNexis.
    •    Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload, and work efficiently under strict timelines;
    •    Comfortable working remotely and collaborating with a virtual team; experience working and communicating in a remote environment preferred;
    •    A valid driver’s license, or the ability to travel within the state occasionally; 
    •    A client service mindset with the ability to establish, build, and maintain a rapport with our clients remotely via phone, email, and virtual meetings;
    •    A strong personal character, with integrity and maturity to handle confidentiality and privacy of clients’ information discreetly;
    •    A strong desire and dedication to advance and grow professionally within the firm and to achieve a high level of productivity; and

    Responsibilities:

    •    Assist and support the firm with the preparation and filing of immigration benefits petitions and/or applications with USCIS, EOIR, and Massachusetts Probate and Family Courts, including but not limited to asylum, U Visa, VAWA, T Visa, TPS, cancellation of removal, waivers, and SIJ;
    •    Assist and support the firm with case management and client contact, including monitoring all potential and existing clients' inquiries, following up directly with clients, performing comprehensive client intakes, collecting and reviewing supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness, performing data entry and maintaining accurate records, preparing client correspondence, tracking deadlines and case progress, and providing status updates to clients, utilizing immigration software management program;
    •    Conduct legal research and draft legal documents, including procedural motions, declarations, and briefs;
    •    Coordinate and schedule appointments with potential and existing clients, assist in client meetings and preparation of clients for interviews and hearings with immigration authorities; 
    •    Prepare correspondence and communicate with courts and agencies as needed;
    •    Stay abreast of changes in immigration law, policy directives, executives and administrative orders, developments, and best practices through ongoing training; and
    •    Perform other administrative and clerical duties and related tasks as necessary or assigned to meet our clients and business needs.
